31st July 2006 - Re-Design
This site is currently being re-designed.
Hopefully there should be something new for September / October time
(and maybe some updates to those programs of mine)
Note About E-Mail
I must sincerely apologise for all the emails I have not replied to (last time I looked there was over 1000 in my inbox, most relating to VNCon). I will start replying to them all when the new site goes live!
Note About Time
Updates to this site stopped after my career took control of my life, working all hours etc. But now I have been made aware of all those spare hours I was never aware of before (ie. mornings before work) so I am using this magical time to develop for myself.
Note About Old Site
The old site is still available here: http://www.chronetal.co.uk/index.php, though it is completely out-dated and fairly cow-obsessed.
Note About Waiting
Whilst you are waiting, why not delve into the artistic part of your soul and check out my beautiful friends artwork at: http://www.thesurrealdemon.co.uk
Quick FAQ:
- Are you still planning on developing VNCon?
- Yes, I have started development of the next version of VNCon in a different programming language, so have been re-coding the core parts of it all. This will take a while, then I will have to re-implement everything (which will take even longer).
- Can you not just fix the issues I have been having, implement simple new features?
- Simple answer: No, sorry. I am just using what little time I have at the moment to work on the new version, though I do realise that most people who used to use this have probably moved on due to lack of support and no recent releases.
- Please can I have the source code, I can pay you for it?
- No, even though I love the idea of open source software, I get protective over my code. In its current state I will not be sharing it, in the future I might be willing to open up some of it (as I did for Moo Mapper after I stopped developing it)
- Is there anything I can use in the meantime until VNCon is updated?
- I was recently made aware of SmartCode VNC Manager, which although not free, appears to be a very comprehensive VNC manager. You can check it out here: http://www.s-code.com
- Why did you stop developing and stopped answering e-mails?
- Basically, life got complicated and did not have time to maintain it or respond to everyone, so instead I just let the email pile up with the intent to reply to all of them when I updated my programs.
- Surely you havent been working so hard that you have had no time available?
- True, but the rest of my time has been spent forgetting about the horrors of the next day, and also a fair amount of time has been lost to WoW (World of Warcraft) which helps me relax and unwind
